Security & Privacy - Privacy Statement
TigerTel/UTR Implementation of the Ten Principles of
Privacy
TigerTel Communications Inc.'s privacy policy has
been developed as an extension of our commitment to
combine the finest quality of services with the
highest level of integrity when dealing with our
clients and our clients' customers. The nature of
TigerTel's business requires that we receive certain
personal information that has been collected by our
clients. In other instances, we collect certain
personal information on behalf of our clients. In
either case, the personal information that we
collect is used in strict accordance with the
purposes for which it was collected, unless
otherwise required or permitted by law. TigerTel is
committed to keeping all personal information in its
possession secure, up-to-date and confidential. As
part of this commitment, we have adopted the Ten
Privacy Principles as detailed in the Personal
Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
(Canada) (the "Act") to govern our actions as they
relate to the collection, use, and distribution of
personal information we may collect.
Types of Personal Information We May Request
TigerTel Communications Inc. collects any
information that is necessary to providing our
services. This information typically includes names,
job titles, municipal and e-mail addresses,
telephone and facsimile numbers, banking and
financial information and credit references.
We limit our collection of personal information to
what is absolutely required to provide you with our
services. Nonetheless, the choice to provide us or
our clients with personal information is always
yours. However, your decision to withhold particular
details may limit the services that we or our
clients are able to provide and will make it more
difficult for us to advise you or suggest an
appropriate alternative. If we are unable to
accommodate your request based on the information
that has been provided to us, we may ask for
additional details in order to identify other ways
to be of assistance. We may also maintain a file, in
electronic and/or paper format, containing personal
information that may be used for customer inquiry
purposes.
Anonymous/Non-Personal Information
At TigerTel, we routinely collect
anonymous/non-personal information, which is
information that cannot be associated with or traced
back to a specific individual or business entity.
For example, our web servers collect certain
anonymous/non-personal information automatically
when you visit the TigerTel web site, such as which
web pages were visited, the type of web browser
used, the level of encryptions your browser supports
and your Internet Protocol address. Such
anonymous/non-personal information is collected for
our internal research and analytical purposes to
help us ensure that our website is both accessible
and relevant.
Using and Disclosing Your Personal Information
We use your personal information to communicate
with you and to effectively provide the services you
have requested.
We only use personal information for the purposes
that have been disclosed to you. If for any reason
your information is required to fulfill a different
purpose, you will be notified of such purpose and
asked for your additional consent before we proceed.
In some instances, such as in the course of a legal
proceeding or by court order, we may be required to
disclose certain personal information to the proper
authorities. Only that information which has been
specifically requested by such authorities will be
disclosed, and only after we have satisfied
ourselves that such disclosure is in fact required
by law.
Finally, in those situations where disclosure is
legally permissible, such as the collection of a
delinquent account by a third party collection
agency, an emergency or in circumstances where we
have reason to suspect illegal activities, TigerTel
will take all steps reasonable in the circumstances
to ensure that the party to which such information
is disclosed has in place an appropriate privacy
policy.
